Achieving social media goals

Social media goals. We all set them. Then we are disappointed when they are not met. The question is should we really be disappointed? Unlike yesteryear the amount of people who have influencer accounts has probably quadrupled in the last few years so there are more people than ever before fighting for that spot light. So unlike influencers that began a millennia ago it is going to be an up hill struggle. But not for all. For some the stars are aligned in the right time and space and someone who started months or even a year or two after you have hundreds if not thousands of not more subscribers than you do. All you can do is sit there and wonder how can this be. Life can be cruel but you have to suck it up.

This is very much a patience game. You can have the best pictures, the most well written and presented blog or vlog and still struggle in getting numbers. You have read all the articles that need to be read; researched all the ins, outs and how’s. So really what is the answer? Unfortunately I don’t have it. Although a few changes here and there might improve your standing, you are fighting a bigger picture. Algorithms. Yes they are the biggest thorn in people’s sides, mainly because they are always changing them. Once you have gotten used to the new ways and you adjust your posts or videos accordingly they go and change them again. This is so exhausting, there is very little you can do about it. These companies and yes companies, (you have to keep in mind that they are businesses and business are out to make money). Coupled with people trying to cheat the system with buying followers and doing that follow unfollow which I personally can not stand, things change and thus makes it harder for everyone. I. E I recently discovered that instagram has changed it so that people who comment on your posts need to write four words or more otherwise they will see the comment as a bot and therefore will not count as engagement. Like really!!!

So my only advice I can give, is to stay optimistic, keep doing what you are doing and know that you will get there.

It is so important to keep up with the latest trends when it comes to social media. In my next post I will share with you what I have learnt and how I cope with social media fatigue.
